#InternetHindus

Who are “Internet Hindus”? TV anchor Sagarika Ghose coined the controversial term to describe the growing, nationalist online voice opposed to India’s secular identity.

Critics call their online tactics abusive however, netizens identified as "Internet Hindus" find the term offensive and say traditional media has unfairly portrayed them.

In this episode of The Stream, we discuss the online debates about Indian secularism with journalists Sagarika Ghose (@sagarikaghose), a frequent target of "Internet Hindus", and Sadanand Dhume (@dhume01). We also speak with Subramanian Swamy (@Swamy39), a former Indian cabinet minister often considered an ally of the so-called movement.
